This Weeping Willow withstood the atomic bombing on August 6, 1945 and recovered. The original grove was toppled in the blast, but buds began sprouting from the root and the tree recovered. Of the A-bombed trees currently in the grove, this was the one that was closest to the hypocenter at that time.
