Located in front of Honkawa-cho streetcar stop and pedestrian overpass near Aioi-bashi Bridge. There are also reported to be A-bombed stone buddhas and lanterns in the cemetary of this temple.

The portion of this elaeagnus that was above-ground was destroyed in the atomic bombing on August 6, 1945. Some years after the blast, buds sprang from the roots and the tree regrew. The withered tree to the right is a cherry tree that was destroyed in the bombing. It was left as it was from that time.
