Japanese Black Pine: 1720m
Located near Tsuruhane-jinja and Myojoin-ji, north of Hiroshima JR station close to Tokiwa-bashi Bridge.
It had recently (sometime before March 2003) been cut down. Only the stump remains. A priest said that Air pollution was a problem in the area and many trees in the area were dying. The tree was being preserved and a memorial is currently (March 2003) being made.

This Japanese Black Pine survived the atomic bombing on August 6 1945.
